History
The history of the governing body of Vithura Grama Panchayat is a true reflection of the social and economic growth of the village. Situated in the hilly region of Thiruvananthapuram district, this panchayat has been functioning with a priority on agriculture and infrastructure development since its inception. While the early governing bodies focused on progress in the agricultural sector and improving transportation facilities, the decentralization of power and the People's Planning Campaign in 1996 brought significant shifts in Vithura's development perspective. This helped ensure greater financial self-reliance and public participation for the local self-government.
